Government's Back to Work Plan
Key areas of policy for the new government are starting to emerge and with some headlines already shared around employment and skills. These include Labour's manifesto commitments to a Back to Work Plan, which is intended to tackle economic inactivity and grow the economy. The detail is yet to be published, with some headlines including -
- A new national jobs and careers service to help more people back into work and those in work to progress - this includes merging Jobcentre Plus and the National Careers Service.
- A youth guarantee for all young people aged 18-21 - this includes access to training, apprenticeships and support to find work as well as two weeks' work experience
- Work, health and skills plan for economically inactive people, led by local areas - to help more people with disabilities and health conditions enter and stay in work
