Kada Research have been commissioned by the University of Essex to test employer demand for two new degree apprenticeships - data Scientist and biomedical scientist. We would like to invite you to complete the survey(s). We would like to invite you to complete the survey(s). By completing the survey, you are helping the University to develop new provision in line with employer demands. The surveys should take under 10 minutes to complete. The surveys explore whether your organisation already has apprenticeships in place. It then asks if you have demand for and / or potential interest in the new degree apprenticeship areas. The survey concludes with a summary of next steps for the research which will include the option of having a short online discussion with a Kada researcher to gain further insights into how the apprenticeship could be delivered.

More information about the data scientist degree apprenticeship and biomedical scientist degree apprenticeship is below.

A data scientist apprenticeship trains people to use software, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to analyse and interpret large amounts of data. They explore and visualise data, showcasing the ‘story’ behind the data in a meaningful way for both technical and non-technical audience Skills include using software packages such as R, SQL, or Python. A data scientist develops knowledge of statistical and mathematical models, advanced and predictive analytics, artificial intelligence techniques, optimisation, and automation. They explore ways in which new and existing knowledge can be used to find patterns in data and transform this into information or implement robust and valuable data solutions.

A biomedical scientist apprenticeship trains people to undertake testing to diagnose and treat diseases and medical conditions. Biomedical scientists specialise in either infection, blood, or cellular science. They will also support the screening of genetic diseases, identifying bacteria and viruses, and monitoring the effects of medication. A ‘Biomedical Scientist’ is a protected occupation that requires regulation from the HCPC (health and care professions council).
